A joint campaign of the governorate, El Gomrok District and the utilities police fully reopened the streets of Souq El Midan after removing violations.
In a later campaign in the market on 30 July 2026, the district’s secretary-general ordered encroachments cleared from the door of the historic El Shorbagi Mosque, which is closed.
